DAY 213 - Your Choice: The Flesh Or The Spirit

Update  for Leslie Sunday July 29, 2013:
Wow! Leslie came to our 11a.m. service yesterday and received communion. He could eat the communion bread! He can start eating now! Praise the Lord! Thanks for your prayers! God is so, so real! Jesus is Lord!
There will be a thanksgiving gathering at Richmond Emmanuel Church on his birthday, August 23, 6p.m. to 7p.m. All are welcome!

     What I got from Jesus is: Your choice: the flesh or the Spirit

     What I received from Jesus today is another reality check-up of whether we are following the flesh or the Holy Spirit. From verse 9 to 13 there are five conditional sentences starting with the word "if":
- if the Spirit of God dwells in you
- if Christ is in you
- if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you
- if you live according to the flesh
- if by the Spirit

     We all know the answer, following the flesh is death and following the Spirit is life. Yes, we know. But, we always makes wrong choices! Why?

     You know why, right? The call of the flesh is always louder and more effective than the Holy Spirit because we are not in Christ. If we are really in Christ, everything will be very, very different. 

     The conditional sentences are to help us to make it a realty:
Yes, the Spirit of God dwells in me
Yes, Christ is in me
Yes, the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in me
No, we do not live according to the flesh
Yes, by the Spirit we put to death the deeds of the body

We live, we live, we live!!!

Jesus needs your clear and decisive choice: choose the Spirit, not the flesh!
     
Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to make the right choice not to choose the flesh but to follow you and to be filled by the Holy Spirit each day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
