What I got today from Jesus is: What is real fitting and orderly way?

What I received from Jesus today is a challenge to quite a number of Christians and churches. Paul wrote this chapter to remind those Corinthians not to exercise their spiritual gifts in an disorderly way. But, Paul also tells all of us that "eager to prophesy and speaking in tongues is good gifts to exercise.

The question is what is real fitting and orderly way. To many Christians and churches, the gift of speaking in tongues is questionable and being avoided. Prophesying is somewhat sinful. As you aware in this chapter, Paul is talking about how to exercise those gifts in a worship. What I am talking about is that lots of churches are so frightened about talking about the Holy Spirit.

I still remember two years ago when Nicky Gumbel invited me to his home for a time of sharing, I asked him one question. I said, "Nicky, do you know there are quite a number of churches running Alpha course but taking out all the three sessions about the Holy Spirit?" He said he knew and I asked, "What do you think about that?" Nicky said, "Well, Alpha course now has more than 20 millions people participated. It is somewhat like a name brand like "Mercedes". For those churches cutting all three Holy Spirit sessions is like buying a Mercedes but taking out the engine! Sad!" I admire Nicky's gift of wisdom!

Well, I think that is what Paul is trying to tell us. We need to exercise the gifts of the Holy Spirit in good order especially if we exercise that in a worship. But, we also need to know that to exercise the gifts of the Holy Spirit is good and should not be avoided.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to understand that we should cherish for the gifts of the Holy Spirit and be willing to exercise those gifts in good order.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
