DAY 132 - Is Love A "Doing" Or "Being"?

Golden Verse 金句

“Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things,  but one thing is necessary. Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”                                      Luke 10:42

"馬 大 ! 馬 大 ! 你 為 許 多 的 事 思 慮 煩 擾 ,
 但 是 不 可 少 的 只 有 一 件 ; 馬 利 亞 已 經 選 擇 那 上 好 的 福 分 , 是 不 能 奪 去 的 。"                          路加福音 10:42

What I got from Jesus is: Is love a "doing" or "being"
What I got today from Jesus is a paradigm shift of our understanding of how to live out the Greatest Commandment: love God and love His people.

We always think of that in a doing mode. How much can you do to make your wife to be sure you love her? How much can you do to make your son to be sure you love him?

Michelle asked me whether I can fly home from Toronto in October after a overseeing trip with Archbishop Yong and Bishop Sospeter so that I can be with Ignatius in his 25th birthday on Oct. 25. It would be difficult because after our Toronto trip we have to go to Greensboro. But, to be with my son in his birthday means a lot to us so I am going to try my best. Michelle and Iggy do not want me to buy anything or to do anything for them but just to be there.

What did the Samaritan do to the wounded Israelite? He was there with him , taking care of him and asked the innkeeper to be with him "look after him". The priest and the Levite who were God's servants did not have time to be with the wounded man for various reasons.

Jesus praised Mary for her being with Him and asked Martha to follow Mary's example rather than doing, doing and doing.

What Jesus told me today to deliver a very, very important message to you is that what He wants is your being with Him each day. Loving others and being in love is what love really is. You cannot do love.

So, to live out the Greatest Commandment is the "being" not the "doing". The expert in the low got it all wrong, many Christians got it all wrong.

I do hope and pray that you won't got it all wrong.

Love is a "being" not a "doing"!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to enjoy being with you each day that we can test the sweetness of your love and have the strength, joy and willingness to do your Kingdom work.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
