What I got from Jesus is: No more excuse!
What I got today from Jesus is a friendly reminder that we are so weak in responding to His calling. This passage is right before the second stage of Jesus calling. His first stage begins at chapter 9 calling the Twelve. Then chapter 10 Jesus called seventy-two(or seventy according to some edition) sending them out to practice what He had demonstrated to them: preaching, healing and driving out demons.
But, we also have so many excuses. Big excuse! The man's father had not yet die but he was making a big excuse that no one could say no to him.
How many times have you make excuses to Jesus' calling?
He calls you back to church, you say too busy!
He calls you to start helping and doing some ministry, you say wait because your spiritual life is not so good.
He calls you to offer more, you say you can't afford it.
He calls you to ....
There will be more and more excuses if you do not follow the example of the Twelve and the Seventy-two to courageously say YES to Jesus' call.
No more excuse! It's such a waste to make excuses to Jesus' call! It waste your life and other people lives!
Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing not to make excuses any more and to say YES to your call. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
