Today's Reading: James 1

Please read James 1 and listen to what the Lord Jesus Christ would like to tell you before reading my Spiritual Journal below. If you would like to learn a simple and good way of Daily Devotion method please read my “Count Down 5” from my Devotion on Fire blog:

You may begin with a song to praise the Lord and complete you devotion by singing another praise song.

我 的 弟 兄 們 , 你 們 落 在 百 般 試 煉 中 , 都 要 以 為 大 喜 樂 ;

                                                               雅 各 書 1:2

Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds,
                                                    James 1:2

What I got today from Jesus is: Joy in crisis
Today Jesus gives us an encouragement as well as a way to get through a crisis. Joy! That's the way!

We know that the central message in the book of James is on 2:17 :
faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

How can "Joy in crisis" applies to this central message? Well, take it as a test, an examination then. When you face with a crisis, see if you can have joy in the midst of all kinds of worries, impatient, doubt. See if you still can have joy to face with all those kind of difficulties in a crisis. See if you can take that crisis as a challenge.

It would be such a joy for an athlete to be in the final of Olympic Game. No one knows how hard that athlete has been training to be qualified into that final run. It is a big, big challenge but never a crisis. That's the picture I got from Jesus to you if you are facing with a crisis. Joy! Joy! Joy!

That is the time to see how great God is. That is the time for you to sing "Great is Thy faithfulness" as some of the words from this powerful hymn comes from verse 17.

Let's sing this hymn now: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0k1WhFtVp0o

Oh, I am so joyful now! So joyful indeed! Thank you Lord! Praise the Lord!

Dear Holy Spirit,
Pour down your fresh anointing of the gift of faith and joy that we can be able to get through any crisis in our life. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.  Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

What I got today from Jesus is: Be an example of past, present and future
Today Jesus gives us a very important secret to have a blessed life. We need to be an example of the past, present and future. Just as Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever.

Many people just focus on verse 8 to describe the character of Jesus. Actually it links to verse 7. The author is trying to compare a good leader with the life of Jesus. That's the true character of Christlikeness.

We need to have those good leaders that we can count on and they should be those leaders having a track record, with successful ministry at present and that we can see from their "finishing well" to help us to follow that example.

Just like John Stott, Billy Graham and many other great leaders!

I had the honour to have Pastor Rick Warren to preach in the service of my consecration as a bishop on September 9, 2009. Rick chose these two verses to remind me of how to prepare myself to be a bishop following other great leaders footstep and be an examples to other leaders.

How can we live our lives to be a good example of past, present and future.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be a good example of past, present and future.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
