You may begin with a song to praise the Lord and complete you devotion by singing another praise song.

and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.”  Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.”

What I got today from Jesus is: Is God frightening or loving?

What I got from Jesus is a practical question. What do you think? Is God frightening or loving? You need to have a relationship with God before you know whether He is frightening or loving, right?

The respond from the Israelites gives us a clue why there have been so few Christians having a daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus. It is not they do not have the time. It is because they do not want to enter into that frightening, unknown and insecure relationship. But, actually, if you have a daily intimate personal relationship with Jesus you will surely know that it is the most loving and secure relationship on earth and in Heaven.

But, God is really sometimes frightening because the fear of God is one of the main thing that most people lack in this modern world. We fear of sickness, cancer, earthquake, bankruptcy, ghost, death and almost everything but never fear God. Why?

That's why God gave the Ten Commandments to the Israelites after they experienced His love and power. Yes, God should be both frightening and loving, both justice and mercy.  The Ten Commandments is still your guideline for your daily living. Live by that and you have a better chance to have a better intimate personal relationship with Jesus.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to follow the Ten Commandments as the key to be more closer to you and to be in your love and protection.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Moses' father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good.  You and the people with you will certainly wear yourselves out, for the thing is too heavy for you. You are not able to do it alone.

What I got today from Jesus is: The secret of not burning out

What I got from Jesus is the secret of not stepping into one of Satan's trap to all pastors and leaders - Burn Out. I have seen too many burn out in pastors and leaders since I become a pastor 26 years ago. I had a few times nearly burn out crisis.

Why? It is just like what Moses was experiencing - taking up important and heavy jobs alone and do not have helper or do not want to have helpers. The it will like a "Domino" effect. Lack of rest, sleep, unable to have a clear mind and decision, sickness, loneliness, insecure, lack of faith, less and less personal intimate relationship with Jesus, less relationship with other leaders and people, worries, anger … Sooner or later, everything crash and fall!

You got to have helpers and you got to learn how to find suitable leaders and helpers to help you. You cannot do it alone!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Lead us to be willing to seek for helpers to help us to do your Kingdom ministry so that we won't step in the trap Satan set up for us to burn out. Holy Spirit, fill us and pour down your fresh anointing on us now so that we are being strengthened and anointed to enjoy life and to respond to your calling.  In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
